Vegan finds: sandals and soaps

My last week in the United States brings all sorts of mixed emotions and stress.  There's so much to do, to pack, to consider. There are so many people to see.  There's so little time.

This is also my final chance to enjoy the convenience of easily finding vegan goods in U.S. stores, specialty stores, and even online (shipping to Honduras would take much longer and be far pricier).  How my veganism will transfer to life in Central America remains a mystery, but for now, I'm relishing in how easy it is to come by vegan goodies.

One of my favorite finds thus far are these Runner - Vegan Jambu sandals.  These sandals are actually called Runner - Vegan. Think of how delighted I was to find them! I'm a runner! I'm vegan! These sandals were made for me.  So far my Jambu sandals have treated me so well!  Feast your eyes on comfort covered in a cheery and vibrant blue:

And of course, I've picked up some of the usual suspects -- my favorite personal care products!  The tried-and-true soaps and lotion, pictured below, are all from Trader Joe's.  They include no animal products, are never tested on animals, and are cruelty-free.  Plus, that green bar of soap smells like lemon heaven.

Apart from a lot of recent scrambling for visa documents and packing preparation, I haven't been an ardent little worker bee. I've actually been horribly wasteful with my time.  I've spent entire days unproductively and on things unrelated to my upcoming move.  Everyone should allow themselves that time, though, and I've been liberal with giving myself that freedom.  And honestly, no regrets here!  Doing so yielded some great times with great people and several loaves of zucchini bread.

Unfocused free time, the kind you both praise and scold yourself for taking, is the best.  I'm hoping for at least a little more of it before I jet off on Saturday.

  1. Those sandals are adorable! They look super comfy. Do you know if Tevas and/or Chacos are vegan? Kind of similar outdoorsy sandals.

    1. Thanks, Alicia! They've been great so far! Chaco and Teva both definitely have a lot of vegan options! And those brands look super cute and comfy!! Though, I wouldn't say the brands are vegan. Some Chacos and Tevas are made with leather or other animal products (the glue typically used to manufacture footwear often isn't cruelty-free). And Jambu, as a brand, is exactly the same.

I've only heard of a few "vegan brands" that carry what I was looking for: durable and comfortable adventuring sandals. There are Okabashis (http://www.okabashi.com/), Splaff (https://sites.google.com/site/splaffretailsite/), and a small handful of others. Checking out the websites, I was really underwhelmed by the amount of options available, and I felt like I couldn't find the perfect adventuring sandal. So, I ended up going purchasing a shoe from a non-vegan brand with a plethora of vegan options!

Hopefully I won't need new sandals for awhile, but when I do, I'll probably mosey on over to Teva or Chaco online! There are so many sandals to choose from!
